The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish has been making strides in West Africa through Lean management (a tool to increase aquaculture productivity), integrating rice and fish into farm practices, improving biosecurity, creating a low-cost fish feed, improving fish processing methods, and performing a nutrition analysis on oysters. Fish Innovation Lab researchers have certainly been busy in Nigeria and Ghana with seven activities working to alleviate poverty and improve nutrition in vulnerable populations.
