Women's Employment in the Aquaculture Value Chain

Video produced by the Machine Learning for Better Aquaculture project

One of the key components of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish is improved livelihoods for women. In the “Harnessing Machine Learning to Estimate Aquaculture Production and Value Chain Performance in Bangladesh” project, they found that more women are participating in the fish and vegetable value chain than previously.

In southwest Bangladesh, a large portion of fish and vegetables are produced in the integrated rice-prawn/shrimp-vegetable farms. In recent years, new opportunities have opened up for women to participate more in the fish and vegetable market to help provide for their families.
