Dreams of Becoming a Successful, Quality Fish Seed Producer are Realized

Md. Liton Morol's early experience as a fish seed producer in Bangladesh was tumultuous, but thanks to the Cryogenic Sperm Banking team, he has received success in rearing cryopreserved sperm-originated seeds on his farm. "During samplings, I found significantly higher growth in cryopreserved sperm-originated seeds than the control and sold these fingerlings to some farms where they observed the same performance within six months of rearing,” Morol said.

Final Workshop of Fish Innovation Lab's Cryogenic Sperm Banking of Carps Activity in Bangladesh

The Fish Innovation Lab Cryogenic Sperm Banking team held their final dissemination workshop in July 2023. Over 50 invited national and international participants and stakeholders were present at the workshop and represented a number of institutions, organizations, and universities.

Aquaculture and Rural Communities: Farm Diversification Through Rice-Fish Farming

The ultimate goal of farm diversification is to increase productivity and access to rice and fish, improve nutrition-sensitive diets, promote resource use efficiency, and generate employment and better livelihood options in the target communities. Since the project’s inception in 2020, over 200 farmers with little or no knowledge of aquaculture have been trained and empowered with the knowledge of rice field adaptation to include aquaculture.
