Forty Years of Aquaculture Management in the Dagupan City Estuary, Philippines [video lecture]

Michael Rice

Professor of fisheries and aquaculture at the University of Rhode Island and former Rhode Island state representative

In this seminar, Michael Rice, lead principal investigator of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish project on assessing the population ecology and distribution of invasive crayfish in Zambia, reviews 40 years of aquaculture management in the Dagupan City estuary, Philippines, for environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Due to the over-intensification of net-pen aquaculture, a contingent evaluation is recommended as a means to develop economics-based policies and incentives for better overall estuarine management practices and sustained use of an integrated multitrophic aquaculture system.

The seminar was hosted by the Fish Innovation Lab and co-hosted by the Mississippi State University Global Center for Aquatic Health and Food Security and the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture.
