Discussion-based breakout sessions include:

  • Agenda Development: gender integration at the beginning stages of Innovation Labs, including proposal development and team creation, to build the foundation for a transformative IL.
  • Team Organization and Capacity Development: approaches to structuring Innovation Labs and building the capacity of research teams in ways that maximize our potential to deliver gender-transformative findings.
  • Outreach-Based Capacity Development: gender-focused capacity development at the project level, including examples of integrated gender training for small-scale producers, NGOs, and other implementing partners. We will open discussion to identify methods, to overcome challenges, and to use collaborative strategies with project partners to effectively engage with gender-related topics at many project levels.
  • Findings: Building the Evidence Base (Research): designing research questions and methods toward building evidence for understanding gender transformative concerns, changes, and findings.
  • Evaluating Gender Integration: various utilities of the Gender Responsive Ag Development Assessment (GRADA) tool, including providing a snapshot of how gender is integrated into projects, gauging knowledge of gender norms that can impact project outcomes, and identifying leverage points for increasing gender-responsive outcomes.
  • Integrating Gender Recommendations into Innovation Lab Renewal: learn about how feedback from PIs in Phase I contributed to improving the Gender and Youth cross cutting theme in Phase II.

Fish Innovation Lab Gender and Youth Equity Specialists Kathleen Ragsdale and Mary Read-Wahidi will be among the Innovation Lab gender specialists presenting during this workshop.
