Peter Allen serves as the technical specialist for the Fish Innovation lab and is an associate professor in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University. His area of expertise is in fish physiological ecology with application to aquaculture. Allen’s research interests are on the physiology, culture, and conservation of fishes, with research projects ranging from commercial aquaculture species such as channel and hybrid catfish to primitive fishes, such as sturgeons, paddlefish, and gar. He received his BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara in biological sciences with an emphasis in aquatic biology and his PhD from the University of California, Davis (UCD) in physiological ecology. He also completed post-doctoral fellowships at UCD and the University of Manitoba. Most recently, Allen completed a a Fulbright fellowship in Chile.
