The forthcoming workshop on 'Nigerian Aquaculture: Status, prospects, and future growth' from 31 October to 2 November 2022 hosted by the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish and WorldFish will be an opportunity for interested donors, investors and African aquaculture communities to learn more about the role of sustainable aquaculture in reducing poverty and improving food, nutrition and livelihood security and the areas of potential investment and finance in the sector.

An open session will be held centering on 'Investment and financing of Nigerian aquaculture.' The invited researchers, industry experts and donor representatives based in Nigeria will speak on the investment framework for improving Nigerian aquaculture, the risk in sharing agricultural lending for smallholder aquaculture and the applicability of financing smallholder agriculture-aquaculture.

The discussions and dialogues will also center on catalyzing aquaculture development through agribusiness investment as well as the Blue Economy Flagship under the Feed Africa Implementation. Investments to inclusively build the aquaculture sector can better contribute to the project’s strategic goals of increasing income, diversifying diets and empowering women.
